GET FIT PERSONAL TRAINING

Client Stories

Strength and Vitality Look Different for Everyone.

People come to Get Fit for different reasons.

Some want more energy. Some want to stay active as they get older. Some want to keep playing the sports they love. Others simply want to feel stronger and more confident in what their body can do.

And sometimes life changes the goal altogether.

These are a few of the people Sloan has had the privilege of training over the years, and what getting stronger has made possible for them.

Margaret: Still Going Strong at 82

Margaret was 67 when she first wrote about training with Sloan.

At the time, she was running a garden and landscaping business. The work was physical, and staying strong wasn’t an abstract fitness goal. It helped her keep doing the work she loved.

At 82, Margaret still has landscaping clients. She still trains with Sloan twice a week. She deadlifts approximately her body weight, does pull-ups and chest presses 25-pound dumbbells.

And every morning, she does 100 push-ups.

Her training has evolved as she has, but the reason behind it hasn’t changed much. Margaret wants a body that lets her keep living life on her terms. That’s exactly what she’s doing.

In Margaret’s own words, at 67:

“My workouts help me stay fit in order to work my garden/landscape business. Without Sloan’s help and challenging me to do more, I would not be able to accomplish as much in a day of landscaping as I do.”

20+ Years

Karen: More Than 20 Years and Still Skiing

Karen has trained with Sloan for more than 20 years.

During that time, her body has been through its share of challenges, including a herniated disc and concerns about bone density.

Today, at 65, Karen is stronger and more flexible. Follow-up medical testing has also shown improvement in her bone density.

More importantly, she’s still doing the things she wants to do.

She skis. She travels. She stays active and continues taking on physically demanding activities rather than organizing her life around what she can’t do.

Training has simply become part of her life. Her husband now trains with Sloan, too.

★★★★★
“I have been training with Sloan for 20 years. He has kept me fit and healthy. At 63, I am able to participate in sports such as snow skiing, snow shoeing and other activities. His wholistic approach has helped me over the years to stay healthy without drugs or surgery. He is well informed about nutrition and shares his knowledge with clients. He has helped me recover from 2 herniated disks without surgery. His knowledge of the body helped me to heal from 6 broken ribs. Sloan is more than a trainer due to his extensive knowledge of natural and non invasive ways to keep the body strong and healthy.”

STRENGTH & CONFIDENCE

Page: Stronger Body. More Confidence

When Page first started working with Sloan, a dumbbell chest press with about five pounds was challenging.

Today, she’s pressing 15-pound dumbbells.

and still building

But the bigger change isn’t just the number on the dumbbell.

Through strength and functional movement training, Sloan has watched Page’s flexibility, coordination and overall movement improve dramatically.

Page has felt something else change, too: her confidence in what her body can do.

“Sloan is a great personal trainer. If it weren’t for Get Fit, I would be a low-energy 63 year old. Now I feel like a can do anything physical that I want to try. My self confidence is back and I owe it all to Sloan and Get Fit. It has literally changed my life!!!”
